About Doglympics USA

Doglympics is a concept created by Teena Patel of University of Doglando, in 2009. Her idea is based on the age old adage that the better one understands something the better one is likely to be at doing it!!! And so she thought that if people better understood their pet, the behavior they are predisposed to display according to their genetic makeup and the jobs they were bred to do, the better Pet Parents they would make.

Determinedly, Teena set about bringing together the professional and the non-professional dog world at the 2009 Doglympics which welcomed 1,800 visitors over the two days of the event. The crowds were entertained by the Flying Disc and Dog Challenge an event that drew over 60 teams from the US and Canada and much to our amazement set a new world record at Doglympics USA 2009 !!!!!!! And of course, we introduced our program of events for everyone’s family pet. The need for retail therapy was catered for by our 46 vendors including dog foods, pet butlers, doggie daycare, boutiques and many more.

To everyone’s delight, 2010 Doglympics saw 4500 visitors come through the gates and amongst many additions to the program were Dock Dogs, Dock Diving and an enthralling demonstration by the German Wirehaired Pointer Club. And so what was a germ of an idea in 2009 blossomed into a concept with infinite possibilities in 2010 and the plan going forward to take Doglympics around the country with cities and towns vying for the opportunity to host the event was conceived.

Doglympics 2011 is set to be bigger and better with the hope that we will welcome upwards of some 6,000 visitors. A management team has been put in place and the decision made to make this year’s event a fundraiser for the Doglando Foundation, an educational organization that promotes responsible canine ownership within our community by creating programs that will improve the welfare and well-being of dogs If you would like more information on these projects go to www.DoglandoFoundation.org.
